For this long-term review of the 2021 KTM 890 Adventure R, we logged more than 3,000 miles on- and off-road and added luggage for extended journeys. 790 Adventure (standard and R variants The KTM 790 Adventure promises to be the lightweight manageable adventure bike for the masses. But how does it handle a full day of back road exploring? The good and bad on 400 miles of B-roads I rode a little over 4400 miles with the stock 790Adv R windscreen. It is a very nice 'dirt' or ' short travel distance' windscreen. It allows a great unimpeded view of the trail and doesn't seem to have any negative affects via wind steer. IF I was keeping the bike "dirt" oriented, I'd keep it and ride.

The Adventure R had proved very capable off-road, but to be honest I wasn’t expecting too much of the standard bike in such a demanding environment.

The 790 Duke was introduced in 2017, but it was quickly supplanted by the 890 Duke R in 2019 as KTM’s top middleweight naked. The 790 was dropped completely for the 2021 model year, replaced by a new non-R 890 Duke. There was never anything wrong with the 790 Duke.
