Of course, there are occurrences of violence and sexual harassment on occasion, just like any other major city. Still, it is as dangerous as some other cities in less developed areas of Eastern Europe.
Otherwise solo travel in Budapest is great. Don’t feel too paranoid on your visit. Use common sense and you’re good to go, even as a woman traveling alone. The biggest danger will likely come from eating too much delicious Hungarian food. There’s no best time to go to Budapest. Simply go and enjoy this amazing city.
